Apple Grunt – An Amish Delight

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 cups sliced ​​apples

  • Sour milk or 1/2 cup sour milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 6 tablespoons palm sugar

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  • Cream, sugar and butter together; Add eggs and mix. Mix flour, salt and baking powder and mix well. Mix baking soda with milk and vanilla extract; Mix all together. Add the apple slices and pour the batter into the baking dish with the butter. In a separate bowl, combine the powdered sugar, cinnamon and butter, mixing until crumbly; Sprinkle with apple cider vinegar. Bake at 375 degrees F for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve hot with half a pint of rich milk or a spoonful of ice cream. Do 4 generous services.
